CURRICULUM VITAE

I am a creative, adaptable and enthusiastic print and web designer, who’s passionate about producing work of the highest quality. I am fully Mac literate and am experienced in designing in all kinds of environments. Fully conversant with the latest versions of Quark Xpress, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Apple Logic Pro, with approx 8 years experience working in professional design environments.

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Freelance Graphic Designer / Art Director Oct 2003 – Present
For over 6 years I have been working for numerous design agencies and publishing companies, as well as undertaking other projects for my own clients. Regular clients / employers Include: Code London (now part of the John Brown Group), Boden, Caspian Publishing, Redhouse Lane, Citigate, Jory & Co, Hudson Wright, Ogilvy One, The Pulse Group, River Publishing and Hunter Design.

A couple of things I’m quite proud of…
1. I was in charge of design for a small, independent record company called Re-Action Recordings, for whom I was responsible for all CD cover artwork and promotional material.

2. I was involved in the design and launch of a new music magazine called State of Play that failed spectacularly (due to a certain, notorious deceitful publisher who shall remain nameless).

As a freelancer, I have worked across a wide range of print-based projects within advertising, marketing and publishing and am used to working on projects from concept stage right through to the finished article on projects both large and small to tight deadline.

Graphic Designer Sept 2000 – Oct 2003
Responsibilities: Sole responsibility for design of New Business Magazine, a quarterly title, with a 50,000 circulation. The position also required me to source and create photography and illustrations. I also oversaw a full re-design of the title and worked with the web developers on the New Business website.

Junior Designer Dec 1999 – Sept 2000
EMP plc, EMP House, Pembroke Road, London N10 2HR.
Responsibilities: I was part of a team designing mostly sports, home and lifestyle magazines at this publishing company. The role also included producing advertisements and other promotional material.

Gallery Assistant July - Nov 1999
Assisted with the Rich Mix exhibition – A multimedia art exhibition at Bishopsgate Goodsyard, London. Duties included preparing the space for the exhibition, building, handling and installing international art works of a variety of media, promoting and maintaining the exhibition and speaking to the general public about the works on display.

Artist’s Assistant June 1999
Working with Gelatin (Austrian art collective/group) on a bizare installation and event, also at Bishopsgate Goodsyard. Work involved building the art installation and promoting the subsequent event.

INTERESTS
I play the guitar and drums in various bands and have released music and toured in Europe and the USA. I also do occasional work in  music production and sound engineering for other bands and musicians. Over the years I have been involved all sorts of capers: running an art gallery in East London, music promoter / DJ / artists assistant.
